The Miller Lite beer can has evolved! The new can now has a punch hole top for a quicker and smoother pour. DraftFCB Chicago worked with Todd McLellan on the stills for the new campaign which shows many common items that can be used to punch it. What else could you use? Comment below and let us know! The beer cans are only available in the States. Thus, Todd made a trip to the Windy City for this shoot and [...]

Raw & Uncensored: Burrito.
Not too long ago, October 2011 to be exact, Todd McLellan collaborated with Fast Company on an LED disassembly article. This time around Todd and Fast Company joined forces for a Chipotle burrito explosion shoot. Sounds crazy fun, eh? Check out the final shot. Todd’s disassembled lots of things, including an entire piano! But this was his first time disassembling food. Todd tells us how his first experience with a Chipotle burrito (at least, his first professional experience!) went. Working [...]

Retro Thursday: Freeze Frame! Ford Fiesta
This was one of our favourite shoots, and probably the most technically challenging. In the summer of 2010, Tracy Jones from Y&R came up with a brilliant concept, and Shin Sugino set out to make it a reality. The idea was to create a 360-degree “time freeze” effect similar to The Matrix. However, since this was to be online and interactive the door was open to even more. How about shooting a 360° time freeze, and then punching in on [...]

Retro Thursday: Oh So Cosmo
The Board In 2007, we were asked by Elspeth Lynn and Lorraine Tao at Zig to shoot a spot announcing the arrival of Cosmo TV. The storyboard opened on a woman’s hand. A miniature guy slowly climbs the hand as if it were a rock face. When he reaches the top, the pinky finger on the woman’s hand extends. The guy gives a big sigh of relief and hugs the finger. He’s literally “wrapped around her finger.” The Challenge Cool [...]

Rétro Jeudi: Trou d’épingle Paris
Pinhole Paris, or as the French would say Trou d’épingle Paris, is a creative project that Todd McLellan shot on vacation with his wife, Barb, back in 2007. The images were shot with, you guessed it, a pinhole camera. It’s so refreshing to see a photographer go back to the basics of photography and experiment with “new” [old] methods. Todd’s first Japanese Sharan Pinhole camera was from Shin. He was very amused by it and ended up ordering several more [...]

We’re Expanding!
The rumours are true! We have acquired the property next door to our 501 Eastern Ave. studio. It will function as a fully loaded, top of the line motion and stills studio. Plans are set and blueprints are being developed. (Rest assured that new heated toilet seats are in those plans.) Construction on the new property is set to begin in April 2012. Revellers at our Summer 2011 Japanese BBQ and Showcase were greeted by this then-mysterious sign One [...]

The Debate: Todd “vs.” Eden on Camera Apps
Two of our photographer/director/DOPs, Todd McLellan and Eden Robbins, are pals. But we discovered a secret, simmering feud between them when it comes to the ubiquitous photo apps (Hipstamatic, Instagram, etc.). So, instead of allowing matters to erupt into fisticuffs, we invited them to air their dirty laundry right here on our blog. In this corner…Todd McLellan The minute I moved to digital, I was finished with rebates and fogged film. So I never understood the [...]
